Re: study on glucosamine

Michelle,

I give my 19yo Select Maximizer with 7500 mg Glucosamine and EquiFlex with 3000 mg Chondrotin Sulfate - one big heaping scoop of each once a day, year round. He does have some arthritis in his fronts.

My 11yo gets a level scoop of each, once a day, but only during our ride seaon - preventive maintenance.

I take 2 Cosemin caplets, twice a day. When I forget to take all four in a day, I start aching, especially my hands. Ain't easy getting old!

Subject: RC: study on glucosamine

Here's a link to some news on glucosamine that I thought was interesting...  The study was done on humans with arthritis, and using pure glucosamine.

"The Lancet medical journal is the first to show that the supplement improves the structure of the joints"

Maybe glucosamine as a preventative for a distance horse (and rider?) isn't a bad idea after all?? :-)  I'd be interested to know how many people are feeding distance horses glucosamine supplements...
