I was at the ride meeting where the duck made this statement. He was
referring at that time to electrolytes. He said when he started all that
horses were given was hay and grain and did just fine. He felt that there
was a tremendous over use of electrolytes and supplements that are
unnecessary.
There are many studies with respect to electrolytes that do not agree with
the duck on this, but as we all know, the duck marches to the toon of a
different drummer (actually the whole band is weird).
