The OD does not do 1st to finish or best condition with the LD.  Someone
from the club rides the course and that is considered the optimum time.  No
one who is riding knows ahead of time what the time is and the person who
finishes closest to the pre set time gets the award.  It is a take off on
the hunt races where there is also always an optimum time award in addition
to the first to finish.
It was a beautiful day and the trail was in great shape and my horse Josie
(6 the day after the ride) finished her first distance ride.     The OD is
an extremely well run and organized ride and this year was a great turnout.
