RE: Re: Re: Trailering in the Desert

Go ahead and experiment if you want, but I'm sure that this kind of stuff
has already been charted by some mechanical engineer or physicist a long
time ago. Get yourself a book and understand wet bulb and dry bulb temps
first. Nothing new about this temp vs. humidity stuff. (Not that I remember
that much about it - this was from a class I took many moons ago.) I think
this is splitting hairs because the net effect is a cooling effect and
that's the bottom line here.

I have no question that it wouldn't work in the summer back east. I
distinctly remember being in DC during August and I thought I was going to
die. I'd be dripping with sweat and taking showers and still feel no
relief!

In response to several posts: No argument about cooler, but higher
humidity
also - can't have one without the other using evaporative cooling.
Perhaps
in a desert environment the increase in humidity is a reasonable
tradeoff
given how low it is to start. But if the humidity is getting flushed by
good
ventilation, so is the cold air generated by evaporation. Yes the
thermometer will read lower, but has anyone measured humidity - would be
an
interesting experiment.
