This horse, Alby, Al Baraaq, has sure been something to watch over the
last few years. This year his record and best conditions have been
impressive.

I first saw Alby about three and a half years ago before he was
"anything" more than a handfull to ride. Patty Hawes with the Pacific
Coast Longriders was working him then for a friend. It was on one of
those rides that Patty (unknowingly) taught me how to lead a horse to
water and make it drink.

Patty Hawes is riding Tevis this year if anyone wants to learn her
methods. I'm not sure if she thinks she can explain it, but if you ride
with her you will surely learn.
