Well...we've whined an awful lot about humidity out here, but I think I
might handle it better than all the dust. I'll bet we have more shade
and ground cover...thus you have to deal with the radiant heat, and the
reflected heat off the light covered ground...plus, climbing out of those
canyons I doubt there's a chance to create much of a breeze. Either way,
I think both ends of the country are doing plenty of "enduring". When my
kids were in horse camp they had a morning lesson and an afternoon
lesson. One was cross country on grass, the other was on a white sand
ring. It was incredible how much hotter the ring was with the heat
reflecting. Anybody want to tell me how much of the Tevis trail is just
dirt like that? Is there a noticable difference in the heat reflecting
up? Remember, all we ever see is Cougar Rock. My mental image of Tevis
is climbing Cougar Rock for 100 miles. >g<
