I only assumed the soap causes more problems than plain water because we 
worked on a trailer with aluminum holding tanks that were eaten out in less 
than 5 years( Yes there was a seperate grey water tank & it was just as bad 
as the black water). Perhaps plain water would do this too if left to stand. 
The aluminum trailer owner's manuals I have seen usually call for rinsing 
out the back of the trailer & letting dry w/o mats. I wouldn't leave any 
soapy residue (or standing water) in contact with the metal for an extended 
period. It's not like it's going to melt in a week or two. I'd just make 
sure it was cleaned up after you got home.
