Re: EN Survey

Along these lines, just in case you were wondering:

     Equus

     Circulation (paid) 148,465
     1999 Reported Advertising Revenue = $1,968,797

     and for a comparison:

     Horse Illustrated
     Circulation (paid) 179,823
     1999 Reported Advertising Revenue = $2,264,292 (projected - 1st
     quarter numbers only available)

Unfortunately, I can't pull any of the smaller, unrecorded magazines.
The smallest I can pull is:

     Hunter & Sport Horse

     Circulation (paid) 29,655
     1999 Reported Advertising Revenue = $110,745

Keep in mind that advertising rates are based on circulation. The
more people who get the magazine, the higher your advertising rates.

Just for giggles, Paint Horse Journal's circ is 30,618 and Arabian
     Horse World's circ is 11,000.

<snip> EN distibution is probably around 6000, as opposed to 200,000+ for
mags like Equus. There is a broader range of reader interest to attract more
advertising. Not that endurance riders don't have broad interests, it just
doesn't pay to target 6000 (probably less) people with big advertising
bucks.
If members are able to "opt out" of the magazine, that would also raise the
cost of communications to the members who are interested, and make it even
less attractive to advertisers.
I'm sure the office would be interested in any ideas you might have to
decrease the production & mailing costs.

And no, I haven't gotten the May issue yet either.
