At Biltmore Kaboot was wearing Luwex rim pads. They're different than
most in that they just drop in between the shoe and hoof and aren't
riveted to the shoe...that way they can move with the foot, and the
farrier doesn't have to do extra labor. I was pretty worried because
Jaye shod Kaboot the day before Biltmore...a ride that many think they
need to use full pads on. Kaboot has a fairly flat but tough foot. We
just busted over the rocks and he never acted like he felt anything. The
pads are pretty cool because they're something like $10 per pair, and you
can get several resets out of them. I may just be a convert. He's had
them on since late February and I like them. My vet saw them and said,
"I love those shoes, they look like combat boots!" >g< You do have to
have clips on your shoes to use them.
