RE: 2005 Pan American Endurance Championship, Pinamar, Argentina
We have just received the Schedule for the 2005 Pan American Endurance Championship being held in Pinamar, Argentina on April 15, 2005. There is information contained in this Schedule that we are seeing for the first time. In addition to the 160 km PAC Championship, they are also holding a Young Riders Championship at 120 km. They are also holding an Open Division FEI ride for both the Seniors at 160 km and the Young Riders at 120 km. The United States will be allowed to enter a team of four and four individuals in each of the Championship Divisions. I am in the process of determining how many riders we may enter in the Open Divisions.
I also have received unofficial information indicating that there will be shorter distances of 80 km and 40 km being held for both Seniors and Young Riders, all of them FEI rides. However, there is no mention of these shorter distances in the Official Schedule so I am trying to confirm that these distances will in fact be offered.
As time is short, I wanted to let riders know about these possibilities even though I do not yet have confirmation of all of the above. While the deadline for indicating your interest in representing the United States on the Team at the Pan American Endurance Championship has passed, I want to get the word out that we will still accept nominations from interested Senior and Young Rider riders. If you are interested in competing in Argentina on either your own horse or a leased horse, please go to the USEF website (www.usef.org) and download the Nomination Form for the PAC. Please indicate the distance and division (Young Rider, Senior, Open, Championship etc.) that you are interested in and whether or not you would bring your own horse or lease a horse. The Organizing Committee has contacts for riders interested in leasing horses. As Nominated Entries must be submitted by March 10, the deadline for submitting new nominations is March 1.
I apologize for the short notice and the lack of confirmation but I wanted to give riders as much time as possible to make decisions and plans. USEF has very limited funding for the four riders who will make up the team in the Pan American Endurance Championship only. While I can offer logistical and organizational help to anyone wishing to attend, I want to be sure that it is clear that funding will not be available.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 908-234-0848 from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM Eastern Time or via email at mlutz@usef.org.
