SHU'AIB TARGETS SUCCESS IN EDARAN ENDURANCE CLASSIC

Shu'aib Ishak and his mount Jacketia, will be eyeing a top three finish in the 160km Edaran Endurance Classic at the ar-Raudhah Equine Centre in Kuang, Selangor on MaY 21-22.

The 46 year old, who has been involved in Endurance events since 2002, clinched the Sabah Ride 140km category title last year.

"The Sabah Ride has been my best achievement to date and it would be great if I could finish this race in the top three because it will be my first ever competition against international riders,: said Shu'aib at the Edaran Endurance Classic Press conference at the ar-Raudhah Equine Centre yesterday.

The other riders representing ar-Raudhah are Shamsudin Abu Roni, on Malin, and Faisal Ismail astride Azarel.

The flag-off for the 160km ride will be on May 21, followed by the 85km and 40km rides the following day.

"To date, riders from Australia, Brunei and the United States have confirmed their entries while the Sultan of Trengganu(Al Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin) has also agreed to compete an is expected to be in the 160km event,' said organizing chairman Datuk Hamid Mustapha.

The riders involved in the grueling 160km Ride will have to work their way through hilly terrain, oil palm plantations, rubber estates, water crossings and village settlements.
