Patti Pizzo and Savaq.
1997 Pan American Championship
Savaq and Patti have competed in 3720 miles of endurances rides. Of that
19 were 100 miles rides. All of the 100's were top ten, mostly top five
except our first ride, the Old Dominion 100 . I still vividly remember that
first 100 at OD finishing well after midnight. We came up thru the last strip of woods, out into the field of lights and cheering crews and thought, this
must be what heaven is like. The next morning after experiencing what was
equivalent to morning sickness I started thinking what ride should we do
next. A hundred miler was born. "Sam" is a just 15h chestnut 13 year old Russian Arabian . Like all
endurance horses he has a heart of gold. My friend Pat Tancredi who picked him out for me describes Sam as a horse that could carry me into war. The WC is far from a war, but I am comfident Sam will carry me thru well.
