Rider First Aid
I've heard that, if a horse and rider can do 35 miles in training, they
are ready to do a 50 in competition. I rode a 30 mile training ride
today and, for the first time in my life, I rubbed a sore on the back of
one thigh. I put a large oval bandaid over it and continued the ride.
After about 10 miles, the bandaid seemed to bunch up and made the sore
feel worse. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use to protect
a boo-boo like this during competition? I was wearing the same riding
tights I always wear. Only difference today was I had a seatcover on
saddle for the first time. Got the sore and removed the cover. Felt
better. I know this is strange but I liked the saddle better without
the extra pad.
