Re: RideCamp: Australian Saddles
Ellen,
I had a Wintec Austrailian type saddle (wide tree) that fit my wide backed
mare quite well (no white spots, didn't lose points on CTR's for back). It
didn't interfere with her shoulder as the all purpose type saddle I'd had
before as it has a dressage type style: I also liked where it put my leg (more
underneath me). Somehow the tree got busted, so I don't use it anymore, but I
understand that Wintec now has a lifetime warranty on their saddles.
The only drawback was the hard plastic thingies in the front that Austrailian
saddles have ---- they didn't interfere with posting & helped keep me in the
saddle on sudden stops but my legs got rather bruised if the mare really threw
on the brakes or did some athletic dodging.
Good luck,
Nancy
