Long trip - moving with horses
I will be moving from PA to Texas on March 1st {Eastern states are NOT horse
friendly, I've learned!}, driving a huge dually with a older 4-horse
straight w/ sleeping quarters/tack room, plus a moving van towing a car. So
we've got a regular convoy going - two big rigs with two horses and two
people in control.
We will likely take 3 days two nights to make the haul {I am driving the
horse rig and I don't feel safe driving something that large when too
tired!} and will sleep in the horse trailer's quarters. My question is - is
anyone familiar with the highways 81 to 40 through Virginia & Tennessee ?
I'm not great with maneuvering the big rig in tight squeezes - would prefer
big areas to pull up in for the night...was thinking of truck stops but
seems dangerous and noisy esp. if a horse should get loose {never happened
before but never say never...}...maybe rest areas or if anyone is right off
the highway with horse facilities we could overnight there...
any comments. suggestions, etc from folks on or familiar with this route are
welcomed!
I like horses....it's their people I can't stand....
