Re: Competitive Trail Ride Know-How
Maryanne,
You could look at the North American Trail Ride Conference home
page on the following URL:
http://natrc.trailriding.com/
There is a lot of information there and the entire 1999 Rule Book.
This may be of help if you really want to learn about Competitive
Trail.
What NATRC is about is the completion of a ride in the same or better
condition than was started. The ride is not run at a damaging pace
but more like a car rally. A marked course in a given period of time.
The maximum speed over the entire course is 6mph for Open Division
horses. NATRC also stresses horsemanship by judging the ride
separately from the horse. You don't need to do this unless you
have a competent horseperson available.
If you need further information, please feel free to email me.
