Horse too fast

Hi folks,

Well as promised -report back on the fast mad mare. On Sat we did a 45
km training ride. As usual Shanelle started out fighting and dancing so
i gave her the go-ahead-no fighting from me this time. We trotted off at
the mega pace and cantered a lot faster than I wanted too up some mega
hills. After 30 kms she calmed down and I could actually get a nice trot
and a very nice canter out of her(one where I could actually sit in the
saddle without being bounced out - and where we could actually do flying
changes on request) At 35 kms she drank for the first time while we
stood at the watering point- and just about emptied the trough!!). We
got back to the trailer at a pulse of 80 - again down to 60 in 10 min's
but there she hung for a further 20 mins!!.The next day she has the neck
stiffness again!! The same sore muscle as last time-the
brachiocephalicus(sp) . She is off on the left side and it is obviously
sore when massaged. This is her stiff side and we have put lots of work
into supplying this muscle , but obviously not enough. Where too from
here???. It is a month since this muscle was sore last time. I am going
to try and get her to the vet this week for a full exam while she is
still lame. My thoughts are running to lots of schooling and supplying
with very little distance work for a long time before we try out on the
trail again. What do all of you think??
