Bridgeport, CA ride - stayover?

Any suggestions on where to stay overnight to break up the drive from the Los
Angeles area?

Have heard that this is a beautiful ride and to make sure to take a little
extra time to get there and get home..... make a vacation of it.

Has anyone stayed at the fairgrounds in Bishop?

Ideal spot would be one where we could turn the horses out to stretch their
legs.... as opposed to tied to the trailer or in a box stall.  People can
sleep in trailer ok.
