Addendum to tieing up/muscle pull query

Neglected to include some basics in earlier post...
April is a 9-year-old 14.3-hand Arab mare, trail ridden throughout her
life but not competed until this year: Manzanita, completed 25, elevated
to 50; pulled after 42 miles with sole bruise; completed Silver State
50, "ouchy" on gravel so did not elect to ride second day. She is in
very fit condition, was trained up with her stablemate Dan who is off to
the races at Death Valley.
