RC: The Bell Curve: Heidi,Tom, Sarah...
Barb Peck bpeck@together.net
bpeck@together.net
Beth's discription of people who can tolerate 100% gatorade vs
people who have to dilute it, is an excellent example of people
on opposite tail- ends of a Bell Curve distribution.
This distribution curve can be applied to just about everything,
including whether someone is thick or thin skinned, willing
to experiment with their horse, or extremely cautious, willing
to post and be flamed or not, etc, etc.
Pure scientific studies have always been at odds with anecdotal
evidence.
Tom is someone on the tail-end of the bell curve, and in
some areas (micro-nutrients) where there's not alot of
data. He likes the heat and has to be able to take the *heat*
(Which, it appears, he can do very nicely). He stirrs the pot.
The heat, in the form of Heidi & Sarah is not a bad thing on
RideCamp, but a good thing, because they know ALOT, and have
the best interests for ALL horses in mind, and are mindfull
that there is a large distribution of viewers/experience
on RideCamp.
While these are tough jobs.... somebody's gotta do it.
These are good subjects, albiet stressfull (for some) of the
posters and readers.
So I hope they all keep the posts coming..
Horses (and people) are dynamic.... never static.
There's always going to be a distribution within any given
group, on any given topic.
