We've had photographers charge anywhere from $5 for a nice 4 X 6 snapshot,
available the morning of the finish of a 100 miler to $20 for a finished 8 X
10, available several weeks later after a 50 miler. We do not pay a
photographer a base fee, we are giving the photographer an opportunity to
make money at our ride. If he/she sells enough photos we might receive some
smaller copies of relevant photos (of our family or horses). Some foks make
their entire living with photography, but I have been told that more money is
to be made at horse shows and weddings and so it is often difficult or
impossible to schedule a truly professional person. We were fortunate to
secure the use of a husband and wife team who photographed our 100 miler last
August. They sold 4 X 6 snapshots the next morning for $5; it is mostly a
hobby with them. But, we have never paid the photographer to come to our
rides.
