Re: breeding/moyle horse/akhal teke
Also while I am stirring the pot, What has happened to all the Akhal Teke
records? Why are they still not in the upper rankings? Much food for
thaught. I will be checking back for responses as any one who does home work
on
these ideas may have much to chew about Thanks, wendy
Stir away Wendy,
Interesting you should mention Akhal Tekes. A group of them were imported
into France a few years back but see little of them in endurance.
One started a 130kms ride near me in Oct (so I guess he must have qualified
somewhere along the line) but dumped his rider 5 times within the first 5kms
(obviously not necessary the fault of the AT).
The feedback I hear is they don't react well to western "civilisation"
particularly in terms of western equine nutritition and they have a very
special mind-set which is not suited to every rider.
I saw a couple a few years back that the importer had brought to an
endurance sort of to show them to people. There was a 4yr old filly who
looked really interesting but unfortunately my partner & bank-roller is
sooooo fixed on Arabians that I went no futher than looking.
What experiences of Akhal Tekes in the States or elsewhere for that matter??
