Yes. Shave a place on the shoulder where you can pinch up some flesh. If the
skin is too thick, you can get blood elsewhere. The Elite glucometer seems to
work best for me--you just slide the strip up to the point of blood and it
sucks it in.

intrigued by all this....I am skeptical about the carbo loading but believe
the use of chromium is a brilliant idea. I have first hand experience and
success using it for myself! If it helps stabilize my blood glucose
levels, I bet it could really benefit my horse and can't wait to try it
next year! My skepticism is most surely a result of my discovery that
carbs are not MY friend but the concept for horses perhaps bears looking
into.>
I'm diabetic, too. But even diabetics need carbs to participate in athletics.
It's all a matter of zeroing in on the individual needs.
