And that is why I have a CMK mare in my broodmare band!

Just as a point of interest--just looking at a few premier rides, CMK horses
in 1999 have captured 1st and BC at Tevis (different horses), 1st and BC at
Swanton (different horses), and the Gold at the Pan Am. In addition, first
and BC at Old Dominion (different horses) were both out of CMK mares.
Michael Bowling sent me pedigree info on Quilty Cup winner and BC--can't
remember precisely, but both were high percentage CMK, if not CMK-qualified.
1998 WEC winner (not to mention the rest of his record) High Winds Jedi has a
modern Egyptian sire line, but the bottom 3/4 of his pedigree is about an
even mix of CMK and old Babson breeding. Both the Hyannis and the Rushcreek
programs started off with good foundation CMK mares, and their legendary
horses are either CMK or CMK crosses. Rushcreek Lad, with his unreal
lifetime mileage record, was CMK. Hall of Fame RT Muffin, with over 9000
miles AND well over 100 career wins, is CMK. RO Grand Sultan (Rio) is 3/4
CMK, and that tough old stallion DR Thunder Bask who is still racking up
miles is 5/8 CMK.
This is not to say that there are not other lines that do well--but
considering that CMK horses comprise only a small fraction of the modern
American gene pool, they have had a disproportionate number of successes as
well as have made a significant contribution to the successes of mixed-source
horses.
