CC and tying up
ti wrote:
Heidi was at a loss, too. I'll make you the same offer I made her. If we can
find a ridecamper who has a horse in the middle of the syndrome, we can give
it one dose of CC at night and see. The bet is $100. Every time it fails, I
send you a check. Every time it is successful, you send me a check. Deal?
Unfortunately, if an endurance horse had truly tied up at a ride I would
consider
it malpractice to try to send it out again the next day. You stated that
your CC was
primarily for horses that tie up early and regularly. This is a totally
different
syndrome than we see at endurance rides with horses tying up after 30-40
miles. Your
chronically tying up horses early in exercise are classic for the
polysaccharide storage
myopathy and yes, those individuals benefit from consistent work, no days
off. Strongly
suggest you seek out the references from Valberg and Valentine-some really
good science
there.
