Re: RC: New Motto?
It's interesting to me, but when I first laid eyes on the motto, "To Finish
Is To Win", it struck me that the "contest" was between my horse and the
TRAIL. If I did not finish (which has happened), then the trail "won" (be it
for whatever reason (usually something I lacked and not my horse who just
tried to do my bidding).
American Endurance RIDE Conference.
Any Endurance Rider Can.
(I would love to "race," but unfortunately, I've never felt I had the
horse, or if I had the horse, maybe I felt I hadn't conditioned him properly
to "race," or he was too young, or whatever.)
"Winning" is winning, of that there is no doubt. And when I see someone
do it with talent, grace and an awesome mount, I marvel.
And when I see someone finish first at the expense of the future of their
horse, I don't consider it "winning."
It is something else.
Merry, merry,
Frank.
