There is a reason that most rides do not have a solo division...A lot more
work for ride management.....The idea is only natural sources for
everything...Only grass or hay put out by management where there is no
grass...Not allowed to pretend horse is dragging you to others stuff. You
can tie up to trees etc. but not horse trailers, telephone poles etc.
Management usually puts human drinking water at the checks and you are
allowed to refill your bottles and leave your trash but otherwise everything
you and the horse needs should be carried with you. The first time I rode
calvary, I carried everything but the kitchen sink and the last time I still
had stuff left over at the end but I would prefer to have that happen than to
need something and not have it. I tried to carry stuff for me on me and
stuff for the horse on the horse so if we got separated, I could still
survive. To me the #1 rule for riding solo is having a horse who recovers
well without a lot of work. That way you do not work yourself to death at
the vet checks. A wise campaigner who eats at every given chance is another
plus. Feel free to ask me anything else here or privately....(as if you
needed permission LOL)
Susan K and Amir the solo wonder horse....
