Actually, diesels DO save you a lot on "fuel." Diesel is less than regular
gas in most places, and at worst, about the same. Our OLD, OLD diesel ('85
Ford) gets 10-11 mpg pulling our heavy three-horse steel gooseneck loaded,
and the newer diesels get far better mileage than that. So yes, you can cut
your fuel bill by anywhere from a third to half.
