One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from one of my old advisors,
and he told me that no animal on earth is going to work as hard or as
diligently as the horse to disprove all the "rules". Anybody that's ever
heard one of my lectures always knows I start out the same way...that with
extremely few exceptions, there are dam* few absolutes around horses, and
the more often you say "never" and "absolutely" about them, the better the
odds are that the next WEC race is going to be won by a horse that didn't
read that book and competes in Nike running shoes, eats nothing but taco
chips and beer and wears his saddle backwards.
