Posting this for a friend, thanks:
I need some information on Sports Medicine Boots. I recently received a
pair for my birthday and have heard a lot of pros and cons about their use.
I have a 15 year old 1/2-Arab endurance horse. I compete this horse on 50
milers at a moderate speed (6-7 hours). My horse has no history of
lameness; however, he does have large splints on both front legs and, after
a 50 miler, he gets a lot of filling in his tendons (although he always
trots out sound afterwards). I was wondering if using these Sports
Medicine Boots would provide enough support for his legs that he wouldn't
get so much filling after a ride.
Should I use the boots for training rides or not? If I use the boots only
on actual 50-mile endurance rides, will his legs/tendons become dependent
upon the support?
Any information will be appreciated.
