A friend had an old mare we rescued & gave her that was blind in one eye
- the friend came out one day to find one of the fence boards splintered
and sticking out of the mare's side between her ribs.    How this
happened is anybody's guess - this friend's fences are always perfectly
maintained.  The mare survived the pierced lung and I believe went on to
have a foal later on.  Lif
