One more saddle question- Rigging position

A rigging in the "Center-Fire" position is NOT in
the same position as rigging in the 7/8 position.
Here's an easy test:
Place the saddle on your horse and let the rigging &
girth strap fall straight down toward the ground.
If you draw a perpendicular line directly thru
the center of the seat (down to the ground) this is the
Center-Fire position.
On alot of horses with a good spring to the rib cage
this is too far back, and will
cause the saddle to move forward on the horse, because the
girth will migrate toward the horses's natural "girth groove".
The most forward positon (toward the front of the saddle
is called "Full", then comes 7/8, 5/8, 3/4, then Center-Fire.
It's important to know how wide your horses natural gith groove
is, to determine which position will work best for the horse.
Some horses can accomodate several different positions
some cannot.
If your current saddle is 7/8 rigged, and you've been
happy with it, then center-fire will probably be too far back.
