Thought things are a little slow and this might be a good time to get you thinking of---
Y2K TEVSWEEP RIDERS NEEDED, (Should be within 100 miles or 2 hrs of Auburn California, because of Qualifying rides and other Tevsweep Activities but not a requirement). The next meeting of Tevsweep will be: February 24, 2000

Ride a 12 to 25 mile portion of the Western States Trail at endurance pace, in day light or dark. Be prepared to: provide first aid to person or horse; communicate by ham radio your position or pertinent medical information; provide first responder search and rescue in the case of a lost runner or rider;
THE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifying ride
Show above average horsemanship skills, including side pass, opening and closing gates, riding at a trot away from a group, returning back to a group at a walk, leap frog (this is an exercise where the rider is dropped from the group while other riders pass), backing out of a ditch up hill, picking up and putting on a slicker, & other horsemanship skills.
Ham Radio
Should have a ham radio license. There are local classes available and is not difficult to obtain.
CPR & FIRST AID
There are local classes available and is not difficult to obtain.
Map Reading , Compass, & GPS, skills
Unit refresher course, time and date to be announced.
