I think you're probably correct that it would be possible to do about
250 miles in 24 hours.  The ride that was done here was done early in
the spring before everyone was conditioned up and trying to find 4
horses each meant  lots of non-endurance horses being used.  I also
forgot to tell you the 12 mile loop was out in the woods and in the
dark, when beavers are jumping and the mud is getting deeper and deeper
and the fog is so thick the trail keeps disappearing, time seems very
different.
