John, my husband and I have been married 49 years, and this piece of
philosophy (almost the whole thing) is right on!! Except for the above...
about not cutting her hair. Sorry, but I respectfully disagree with that
one. Men may consider a woman's hair her "crowning glory" (my mother-in-law
taught me that one), but there are several things to consider here:
1) Ever tried riding a 100 mile endurance ride, or doing a 40 mile ride &
tie with long hair? Or for that matter, just going out on a conditioning ride
3-5 times a week?
2) How about scrambling through the dense brush while trying to find an old
trail you just KNEW was there .... somewhere?
3) Swimming?
4) What about the fact that some women's hair simply won't grow beyond
shoulder length? And as it approaches the shoulder it becomes scraggly and
awful.
5) A hair stylist I once used always told me that long hair did not flatter
the older woman. I no longer use him because he cut my hair TOO short and it
looked more like a man's haircut. Maybe this is because he started at the
age of 11 as a man's barber. He is over 80 now.
Sorry, men are just going to have to live with the idea that some women don't
want to hassle with long hair, nor do they have the time. 'Scuse me, I have
to run out and fix the barbed wire fence the cows just broke through.
