Since my accident this spring I've noticed that my weight gets heavier in
the right stirrup if I ride for more than 3 or 4 hours -- particularly if
I'm having to do a lot of posting or 2-point. It's getting stronger and
I'm making a big effort now to concentrate on keeping the weight as even as
possible. After the Alpine ride, Blaze was noted to be sore on the *left*
side of his spine...I had done a lot more downhill trotting than my leg was
really ready for and the extra weight in my right stirrup apparently pulled
the saddle against his left side. It was very awkward on one diagonal
toward the end...uneven and disjointed feeling...my doing, I'm sure! I'm
concentrating also now on shifting my weight to the left a bit more to help
build more strength in that leg!! -- and getting Blaze a new saddle that
has a more customized fit. He has a *very* hard back to fit and I need to
give him the best advantage against my human inadequacies! ;-)
