Re: question about mares in heat
You dont need to have an ultra sound. She would be far enough along that a
palpation would be sufficient. A friend of mine had a black qtr mare that
was bred for 6 months in a row when they finally called the vet to see what
was wrong with her and he told them she was 6 months in foal. An old
cowboy friend of mine saw a stallion cover a mare at 11:00 am and the mare
foaled at 4pm that evening. (How's that for curb service!!!) The stallion
was running all year long in pasture with his band of mares. This poor mare
didnt know how to say NO! So yes, there is a slim possibility that your
mare could be in foal. Emphasis on the word "slim". gesa
