Debi,
I always double tie my gelding at rides, as he has been known to get out
of a single tie!  I tie 2 ropes to the trailer using quick-release
knots.  One is snapped to his halter.  The other runs through the halter
and to his collar.  You can do the same thing with a neck-rope, but I
rather like using a collar.  All of the horses at our barn wear them.
(I always have said that Arabs are like big dogs...)  I've never had
Akela get out of both of them.
