Re: FUSSY EATERS
Hi Celeste,
My gelding had a first rough season. I had trouble keeping weight on
him.... part of it was my ignorance and I have often thought part of it was
his body adjusting to his new "life style". I read everything I could get
my hands on and then some and then ended up on Ridecamp! I tried
everything in the book, too!! I believe the beet pulp, oil and probiotics
regimen that I adopted has made all the difference. Even if she isn't
eating well yet at rides, a good base will surely help minimize the
damange, I would think. Besides, feeding the beet pulp (before, during and
after the ride) all slopped up with their pellets, a little 10% sweet feed
and lots of carrots and apples cut up into it, cured my gelding's "I'm too
excited and want to hurry up and keep going down the trail" attitude. He
looks for it and expects it now. I started using it more to get some more
moisture into him as he didn't used to care to drink. Now he eats AND
drinks!!
Good luck and let us know how you do!! :)
