    Viv--Very well put.  It's all a matter of common sense, taking personal
responsibility, and courtesy.  Ride managers should be aware of necessity of
altering start times as necessary depending upon the course, but it all
comes down to "you pays your money and you takes your chances" whatever
distance you're riding.  We have to quit expecting to be guarded and
protected from everything that might possibly go wrong out there.
