What I have found works best is to have the LD's take a slightly different
route into the first check.  That way you can start them out and they won't
blow away the slow 50's.  I've done this on rides I've run at two different
locations.  One ride I actually routed the 25's into the second check used by
the 50's and 100's.

The other I split the LD's off about 4 miles from the start and into the check
at 12 miles and the 50 went 17 on a different trail (except for the first 4
miles) into the check.  I actually did a controlled start for the first mile
and with everybody starting at same time for this ride.  That way those that
wanted to ride slow could work their way to the back and not be bothered with
any of the front runners.
