re: Coggins to pull in at a ride
In Virginia, you MUST present a negative coggins (within one year) at ANY
gathering of horses. State Dept of Ag will occasionally spot check. At one
ride we put on years ago, a truck & trailer we didn't know pulled in with 3
non-descript horses. The guy didn't want to show a coggins, but my husband
stood firm. He then got the "old shuffle" from a huge pile of coggins - none
matched the horses exactly. When he politely asked them to leave, they show
their Ag credentials, thanked us and left. I'm not sure what would have
happened if Mike hadn't stood his ground.
Serious stuff in a state where there are a LOT of horses who travel all over.
