miles?
All the posts about miles brought to mind this story from my early
endurance days.
At one of the NW region rides one of the local cowboys was visiting ride
camp the evening before the ride. He was pretty sure he was just as tough
as any of the folks there and knew he had a good horse and said so. "I've
ridden 50 miles lots of times!" After much hoorawing back and forth he was
talked into entering the ride. (Put up or shut up)
Ride start came and went, miles went by, everyone including cowboy arrived
back in camp. As he got quietly off his horse he was heard to say, "I've
ridden 50 miles lots of times-------but not 50 MEASURED miles!!!!
