EIA outbreak

My husband is the New York State Field Veterinarian for the four western most counties in NY State.  He just had a positive EIA in our area that came from the Sugar Creek Ohio auction.  The owners bought the horse OUTSIDE the auction so it was never tested, as it would have been had it been run through the ring.  The horse was put down, the premises quarantined, and they are trying to trace where it came from originally.  Beware when you buy a horse......
