Re: CamelBak question...

I made my own water-holding backpack and use the Platypus bladders. I used
an old typical backpack and down sized the width and length. I put in a
waist stabilizer strap (i think this is necessary). AND on the front (i
copied this from a friends pack) I added another little strap that goes from
shoulder strap to shoulder strap across your chest.

This system has worked great for me. I'm just a beginner but I've done a
few LD's and lots and lots of training miles and this works. The two strap
system seems to stabilize the whole thing and i don't even get sore
shoulders from it, which is amazing.

As for adding a waist strap to the one you bought - it depends. If you can
sew and the material is not too thick for your machine, you can probably
turn the whole thing inside out, remove the stitching on the side seams
where you want to insert the webbing. Insert webbing with the tails going
to the good (outside of pack which is now inside) and restitch your seams.
(i'd go over those seams 2 or 3 times) . You can buy the webbing and
plastic clips and most fabric stores.

Happy trails,

Sarah & Saffire
