The AERC requirement for a vet check within 5 miles of the
finish plus the logistics of the trail at Fort Valley = the
last vet check at 1.7 miles from the finish. What I saw was
the front runners racing into the last vet check, but they
pulsed down at significantly different times putting a 4-6
minute difference in out times of the first 3 horses. As a
newbie I learned that if you want to run up front you better
train well, and you sure better know your horse.
