The longer cannons require more effort with each stride and are less
efficient in the long run. The lack of efficiency can lead to unsoundness if
they begin to struggle to get the job done. Both short cannons AND good bone
are desirable, and I would rather have one that is moderate in each area than
greatly flawed in one and terrific in the other.
