I second the comment about learning to ride the horse with his best interest
before all. (even winning).What lessons are we learning or teaching here
anyway? As for placing at limited distance, I think it is
counter-productive. Limited distance should only be a stepping stone to
50's. If some riders feel that is all they or their horse can do, that's
fine, but don't expect to be seen as true endurance riders. There's no shame
in riding all day for the pleasure of being out with your horse. But see it
as what it is. And that's NOT an endurance ride.
