RC re: gas water tank heaters

Ruth, do you know where your friend got the gas water heaters?  I'm in a
similar situation, with no electricity out to the barn and water tank, and
have been looking for options to the old axe and shovel for clearing ice out
of the tank this winter.  I'm not sure how well a heater would work, since
this water tank is spring fed, and water is constantly running into it.
Maybe too much circulation to let the water actually heat up and keep the
ice off?  But I'd like to at least check out the possibilities.  Thanks
much!
