Re: RC: Re: Cow-hocked endurance prospects???
For most conformation flaws the potential shortfalls are well
documented. With a cow hocked conformation you take on some risk - which
again is well documented and your vet can fill you in on those.
You may or may not want to accept these risk based on other positive
factors. No horse is perfect and buying a horse is a trade off between
the risk because of less than desirable factors vs. the benefits of the
desirable factors.
If I were seriously considering buying a cow hocked horse I would work
with my vet to make sure that the risk posed by this conformational
defect was minimal and the horse would hold up to the demand that was
going to be placed on it. Myself I would not buy a cow hocked horse, but
the decision to buy is a matter of personal option.
Whatever the decision, good luck.
